Hey its me GABE
I wanted to Thank everyone for donating for my testing it will be all day and it will cost 3700 consisting of an MRI, CSF, and bloodwork. Thanks to Kevin Keaton, my buddy who busted me out of "puppy jail" aka the shelter. He has donated so much to help me but he recently did a donation match up to 1k. So then this happens...a call from OSU-NEURO and my foster parents take it from here.
The call was from Dr. Driscol himself asking about how GABE was doing. He approached the situation with explaining why he was calling and he needed to ask us something and if it would be a doable option for us. He explained about a  racehorse located in KY that was getting loaded and brought to OSU Vet Hospital now in Columbus, Ohio. The owner and his trainer who are very knowledgeable about their horses called and explained what happened during a training session. When the horse collapsed with its backend "failing" and the difficulties that started when running wide-open out of a turn. This horse needs an MRI and then from the MRI table probably straight to the OR table. UKs Vet School only does lab diagnostics. Our PIXIE sees a dermatologist, Dr. Miller in Louisville, KY that does and interrupts labs, skin biopsies, skin scrapings, etc there at the UK campus one day a week. So, we know they are very limited... UK we are told will not try to expand veterinary services they are unable to compete with OSU that ranks 3rd in the nation. So, all of those very beautiful KY racehorses get taken to OSU for care, treatment, etc.... I also found it interesting that OSU takes care of the zoo animals, have animals flown in from all over for care, take care of all animals such as companion, livestock etc... its always literally crazy busy and exciting there with so many beautiful animals in need. Dr. Driscol said that they also just had a herding dog brought in that is definitely paralyzed. The dog was found that way this am. Apparently he had been attacked out in the fields and 3 other very emergent sounding cases needed worked in quickly. Dan and I knew were he was going with this. So, I said When could you get us in if we rescheduled. He immediately sighed and said Thursday at 0730. "Are you sure!? " I said yes, absolutely I wouldnt have offered if I felt he truly needed done now. We can wait a day or two. He is doing alot better than he was. He is not out of the woods yet but he is doing alot better. He hasnt fallen in over a day, theres been no focal seizures, eating, drinking, doing things with purpose, not as wobbley, etc... I feel he can wait till Thursday. Dan chimed in and said yes he has improved so much that these cases sound so very emergent. I said I am sure you all tried to do this for us to get GABE in as soon as possible and not everyone is willing to give up their spot. We are not those people if we can wait, we will wait. He is advancing! We want a pup, an animal that sounds very serious to have our spot. We will be keeping our paws crossed for some good puppy karma and maybe GABE will be able to do more things with purpose and steady by then. Dr. Driscol said we were too good to be true. His co-workers told him if thats the Maacks with LILY they will work with us. Weve been up there to every dept except the Reproductive dept, LILY had her spay done by the Soft Tissue/Trauma Team and the Dental Dept they currently do not have an anesthesiologist and LILY with all of her birth deficits and her Grade 6 murmur had to have an anesthesiologist along with the vet doing the dental. We actually have frequent flyer miles there or we should. So, we gave up our spot without hesitation as we sat here and watched GABE prance after PIPER. I truly feel as we watch him he is doing so much better. One of those pets needs his spot just as I am sure someone stepped aside for him. I know they called people pleading our case to get GABE in sooner, too. I can only hope that we will be blessed with Good puppy karma for allowing a possibly sicker or a more serious injured pet take our spot. So, we will be going up now Thursday at 0730. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers send us good vibes and well wishes. He truly is doing so good! He honestly is a such a doll. Hes beautiful, spunky, and goodness what a personality! He has started talking. He and my constant complainer PIPER who has a mouth that goes 24/7 seem to be in competition. Sweet GABE sounds like a baby pterodactylus, walks on his hind legs, swats like a cat, and we adore him! Maybe some of it isnt neuro issues maybe hes just quirky!?!? Or part feral ferret!?!?

Thank you all so much for donating to help this sweet boy. I promise he is worth it. He is such an incredible little boy! We will keep everyone updated on his progress and Thursday.

Again thank you all so much. You all have been so wonderful and supportive of this sweet boy.
