This 5” × 7” spiral notebook features my original graphite drawing of Joy, an incredible rescue dog whose journey is a testament to resilience and the life-changing power of compassion.

Joy’s story was shared by Pam Schisler, who temporarily fostered her after pulling her from the Twinsburg Dog Shelter. Joy had been seized in a cruelty case and was found confined in a cage with another dog who had sadly not survived. When she arrived at the shelter, she had no use of her hind legs, and many believed she would never walk again.

But Joy had other plans.

When Pam placed her on the grass, Joy immediately tried to stand. Even while using a wheelchair, she continued moving her back legs as if she refused to give up. Pam believed there was still hope.

After Joy was transferred to her long-term foster through Sophia’s Grace Foundation, she received extensive physical therapy and rehabilitation. Through months of determination, expert care, and unconditional love, Joy accomplished what once seemed impossible.

She learned to walk again.

Today, Joy has been adopted into a loving forever home where she is living the happy life she always deserved. Her story reminds us that hope, patience, and love can accomplish extraordinary things.
