Meet Julep

Julep was one of six dogs Sophia’s Grace Foundation helped rescue from a backyard breeding and hoarding situation in Kentucky. More than 250 dogs were living on the property. Many had skin problems, and some had heartworm or old injuries that had gone untreated.

A number that large can be hard to take in. Drawing Julep gave me a way to focus on one face and one story. I wanted her portrait to show the little dog whose life mattered long before anyone knew her name.

Thanks to Sophia’s Grace Foundation, Julep has the chance to be cared for and begin a new chapter. Her portrait is my way of helping her story travel farther—one rescue dog at a time.
