Meet Pickles

Pickles was one of six dogs Sophia’s Grace Foundation rescued from a backyard breeding and hoarding situation in Kentucky. More than 250 dogs were living on the property. Many had skin problems; some were heartworm positive, and others had old injuries that had never been treated.

A number that large is hard to take in. Then you meet Pickles, and it becomes personal. She is one little dog with a name, a face, and a story worth telling.

I drew Pickles as part of Pet Portraits with a Purpose to help people see the individual lives behind rescue stories. Her original portrait has already sold, but I’m sharing her drawing here because her story still deserves to be seen.
