Pierre’s Story: Born Into a Second Chance

Pierre’s rescue story began before he was even born.

His mother was a retired breeder who arrived at Sophia’s Grace Foundation with an unexpected surprise—she was pregnant. Thanks to the rescue, she was able to safely welcome her babies while surrounded by people committed to giving her and her puppies the care they deserved.

Pierre was one of six puppies in the litter. Sadly, one of his siblings was stillborn, making the healthy arrival of Pierre and the surviving puppies especially precious.

Unlike so many rescue dogs, Pierre never had to experience life without safety and love. He was born into the compassionate hands of rescue and given the chance to grow, play and discover the world while waiting for a family of his own.

Pierre has since been adopted and is absolutely adored by his new family. His story is a beautiful reminder that rescue work doesn’t only change the lives of animals who have endured years of hardship—it can also protect new lives from the moment they begin.

I created Pierre’s portrait as part of my rescue artwork series honoring the incredible dogs of Sophia’s Grace Foundation. His drawing celebrates a little life that began with an unexpected surprise and became a very happy ending.
